The band, who has sold more than 10 million records worldwide in their ten year career, will be the first major act to perform a live outdoor gig in the Telford Town Park Arena.
They will take to the stage on Saturday September 7, with some big name support acts to be confirmed shortly. T-Live is part of the Council’s new summer festival T-Party, a double weekend of celebration which is expected to attract more than 20,000 people. It gets under way during the weekend of August 30-September 1 when the Telford Town Park Arena will host a family weekend with street entertainment, a family theatre performance, music and dancing. T-Party will then culminate with T-Live the following weekend on September 7 when McFly and support acts will take to the stage for probably the biggest outdoor gig ever to be performed in the borough. Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to attract an internationally established act like McFly for the first ever T-Party Festival. “To my mind, this puts down a marker for the T-Party for future years and will well and truly put Telford and Wrekin on the map. “We have a wonderful facility in the Town Park Arena and I feel the programme of entertainment we are putting together for T-Party is one that will really excite local residents and visitors as well. “We will be making more announcements in the coming weeks about what else will feature as part of the entertainment for T-Live and we expect tickets to sell very quickly.” McFly will play a 75 minute set with support acts on stage from late afternoon and tickets for the gig will be £35 for adults and £30 for young people (11-16) or £32 and £28 for Telford Loyalty Card holders. Under fives will be allowed in free and those aged 5 to 10 will be just £10. Tickets will go on sale next week and will be available via www.tparty.co.uk or by calling on 01952 382382 or in person at the Box Office counter and Telford Ice Rink. Watch The Gig Promo HERE We love pandas, and we love McFly, so when WWF invited us down to London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday evening to watch McFly perform a very special gig while dressed as pandas, what could we say but HELL YEAH?
Tom, Harry, Danny and Dougie were all buttoned up in their black-and-white onesies to support WWF's Earth Hour, the world's biggest switch off, which was encouraging everyone to "do it in the dark" (ooer) for one hour to protect the planet. We popped backstage to chat with the boys before the show, and were treated to the very-nice sight of Harry Judd doing pull-ups. When Tom then cheekily reached over for a squeeze of his guns, Harry told us, "They're little at the moment, because I'm doing the marathon." In case any of you are wondering, they really aren't little. They are *fans self* nice. It's not the first time the band have donned panda onesies – earlier this month, they did theHarlem Shake as pandas! So, how does it feel to be a panda? "I keep sitting on my tail!" Danny laughed, while Dougie tried to convince us that he was naked underneath his. After the acoustic performance, which the boys did on a candlelit stage, all four stripped off and signed their (now a bit sweaty) panda onesies and handed them over to the WWF ladies to auction off. Unfortunately, we were told that the half-empty packet of chewing gum and £3.52 we had in our bag was not enough to snag one. Bummer! As well as channeling their inner bamboo-loving bear, the McFly foursome are currently in the middle of a hectic schedule of rehearsals for their upcoming UK tour, The Best Of McFly, which will kick off on 19 April. They've also been working on new stuff in New York and LA (get them!) and recording a tune they wrote for One Direction over in Dublin. Somehow, Harry is also finding time to train for and run the London Marathon and the Tough Mudder for Teenage Cancer Trust and Eyes Alight (you can sponsor him by texting HARRY to 70300). Makes us feel tired just imagining it. Perhaps we'll just go and quietly think about Harry's guns instead In Case you missed McFly's acoustic performance on Earth Ho HUGE thanks to poyntersource for posting! |
